The Louisville Lions and Louisville Colonels are taking advantage of the offseason period and have scheduled a friendly exhibition game for January 30th at 2:00 in the afternoon. All proceeds from the game will go toward the Active Heroes Inc. charity, a local charity based in Louisville.
Active Heroes Inc. helps retired war veterans in coping with their stresses that can lead to suicide. An average of 22 war veterans commit suicide every day, and Active Heroes Inc. strives to reduce that number and improve life for all active duty military, veterans and their families. You can donate to the charity at https://greatnonprofits.org/org/active-heroes-inc.
The Lions and Colonels are two of the three current teams based in Louisville, the other being the newly-founded BucketGetterz. The Colonels are now in their 38th season and have won one world championship in season 66, which they won in a crosstown battle with the recently disbanded Louisville Legends. The Lions are a fairly new team, now in their 7th season. They won back to back division titles in seasons 64 and 65, but have recently struggled to gain traction in their division, finishing 24-36 last season.
The exhibition game will represent a coming together of the city of Louisville before the season gets underway. Make sure to go to the game if you are able. Tickets are priced at $15, and both teams hope to have a full turnout. All proceeds will go to the Active Heroes Inc. charity.
